Tom Maggio brings to ECGRA over 20 years of experience in community and economic development - ranging from local government to regional and national non-profit organizations. During that time, Tom has been engaged in planning, public policy, and project and city management in four different communities, including transportation and environmental policy work in Washington, D.C. Tom received his Certificate as a Certified Planner in July 2020.
In Erie, Tom has authored over 60 successful grant proposals which have brought over $9 million in outside funding to the region. During his tenure at the Erie-Western Pennsylvania Port Authority and Erie’s Redevelopment Authority, Tom successfully managed over $15 million in plans, studies, and construction projects, including the award-winning Erie Land Lighthouse restoration.
As a proactive leader in the Erie community, Tom co-founded the Northwest Pennsylvania Trail Association, which constructed the first rail-trail in Erie County, and created the Erie Citizen’s City Planning Academy which empowers community leaders to improve their neighborhoods. Tom has also served as volunteer crew member on the U.S. Brig Niagara and continues to spearhead the revitalization of his historic neighborhood in west Erie.
