FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – October 10, 2011 – Today, ECGRA kicked off the UChoose Grants submission process with the launch of ErieUChoose.com, the project's official application and voting Web site.

Modeled after the nationally recognized Pepsi Refresh Project, UChoose Grants gives community members a chance to vote on which Erie County-based nonprofit organizations will receive one of three awards totaling $30,000 sponsored by ECGRA.

Nonprofit organizations can upload their projects at ErieUChoose.com through November 16. Any 501(c)(3) headquartered in Erie County can apply online for a grant in the amount of $5,000, $10,000, or $15,000. Applications must be for a charitable, community, or educational project benefitting the people of Erie County and for projects that will be completed within 12 months from the first date of funds disbursement, approximately January 11, 2012. Complete Program Guidelines, including full eligibility, rights, and requirements, must be consulted by all participants and are available at ErieUChoose.com and ECGRA.org.

Prospective participants are encouraged to attend the UChoose Grant Workshop on October 20, 2011, from 5-6:30 at ECGRA, 5240 Knowledge Parkway, Erie. RSVP to smckenzie@ecgra.org no later than October 18. Call 814-897-2690 with questions.

UChoose Grants are designed to empower nonprofits, embolden community members, and provide ECGRA with a larger, more diverse pool of funding concepts from which to make future grant-making decisions.

Voting begins on November 28 at ErieUChoose.com. Visit ECGRA.org for up-to-date info, or look for details from media partners Connoisseur MediaJET 24FOX 66, andYourErie.com.
