ECGRA's Continued Investments Strengthen Erie County
The Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority (ECGRA) awarded $177,736.07 in grants to local nonprofits and municipalities across Erie County through the second round of funding for the Special Events and Anchor Building Grant Programs.
The Anchor Building Grnat Program was established in 2018 as an adaptive re-use funding program to strengthen the community, its neighbors, and commercial districts.
"Erie County is full of historic buildings that represent the architectural heart of many neighborhoods," said Dr. Perry Wood, Executive Director, ECGRA. "By investing in these community anchors, we are preserving and enhancing underutilized buildings that can serve as catalysts to reinvigorate and strengthen our Erie communities."
The Special Events Grant Program, which fund up to 5% of events that take place within Erie County, promote the region economically and culturally. They are driving tourism, attracting talent to the region, and helping sustain Erie traditions that have helped make Erie County a special place to visit and call home.
"ECGRA's investment helps support the entire scouting program in Erie County through numerous events," said Duane Havard, Scout Executive/CEO, French Creek Council, Boy Scouts of America. "This money is used to help keep the programs affordable to our scouting families as it reduces fees needed to cover rentals and equipment. More money means more kids get a great program!"
Since 2008, ECGRA has invested more than $65 million in 1,319 grants and loans to 278 nonprofits and municipalities in Erie County.
